• Representatives from the Centers for Independent Living, along with members from
  the Council, have begun preparation of the SPIL Agreement for the three year
  period of 2010 through 2012. The first meeting was held in Nashville in July.
  Emphasis of the meeting was assessment of the current status of programs and
  establishing an updated assessment of the needs statewide.
  
  
• The Executive Director of the SILC attended the annual NCIL conference in
  Washington, DC in June. One day of the conference is devoted to meetings with
  various congressmen to advocate for current issues.
  
  
• Each of the Centers participated in annual celebrations of the signing of the
  original ADA legislature during the month of July. These celebrations are held at
  the local level with exhibits and activities geared to the local area. The SILC of TN
  provided financial support for these celebrations.
  
  
• The Council oversaw and financed a new brochure representing the Independent
  Living functions and facilities. These brochures can be obtained from any of the
  Centers or from the Council itself.
